Sharon Hicklin Branding Icon

From Multi-Platinum Music Executive to Visionary Strategic Advisor

Sharon has enjoyed a very lucrative career within the recording industry for Epic, MCA, Silas Records and UMG.  Her career began in Artist and Repertoire where she successfully forecasted, managed and administered the production and recording budgets for multi-platinum artists/brands.  She quickly gained the reputation of being an on-time, on-budget executive while at the same time maintaining strong artist relations.

As Head of Operations for Silas Records, she was responsible for all things label related with an emphasis on forecasting and maintaining overhead and operational budgets as well as overseeing the Recording/Mastering and Visual components of their Artists.  She created and implemented both the automated and manual processes used by the company in its marketing, promotion and recording activities as well as creating and implementing policies and procedures.

Sharon left the recording industry for a time to co-found and launch one of the first on-line music websites.  With cutting edge technology, the goal of the company was to empower the artist.  The website offered the artist the ability to brand and sell their music both digitally and physically while at the same time providing the artist interactive marketing opportunities.  Using proprietary software, the artist was able to interact with their consumers in ways that had never been possible before.

Capitalizing on her passion to save money for the artists and its labels, Sharon joined Universal Music Group’s Central Operations.  As a Sr. Executive, she played a key role in the Digital Logistics and Business Services division, whose responsibilities included multiple business transformation initiatives.   Sharon led a team of 21 individuals charged with the task of creating best practices by identifying and implementing automated solutions in places where the labels could leverage each other’s strengths.  Areas of oversight included information services such as sales and airplay reporting, promotional product fulfillment, travel, marketing division budget creation and oversight and vendor relations.

In her capacity to affect change, she was able to synergize teams across multiple businesses while at the same time revolutionizing the way the company looked at and processed information.  Efficiencies implemented by her team were both innovative and cost effective saving the company and its artists in excess of $10 million dollars YOY.

Sharon continues her career as a successful entrepreneur, Strategic Coach, business Consultant and Financial Advisor and welcomes the opportunity to serve Artists and Businesses as they take on the next steps of their vision. “I am committed to respecting the dignity of all human life and music is a universal language that reaches the hearts of people around the world.  Long live the arts”

In her desire to give back to the future, Sharon works with youth from around the world creating dialogue and building bridges of commonality.
